Abstract

The paper introduces a decision support architecture with an integrated, self-building simulation module for the validation of the calculated manufacturing capacities, a-priori recognition of due date deviations and analysis of the effect of possible actions. In the underlying research special attention is devoted to the prediction and evaluation of the production on a daily, rolling time horizon basis (e.g., work in process (WIP) trajectories, machine utilizations). The paper addresses the simulation module of a higher level integrated system in which the simulation model is automatically built o the basis of a real-time connection to Manufacturing Execution System. The main functionalities and advantages are highlighted through a real industrial case study.
