Scope and Goals:

From 1990 until today, the globalization process has engendered a borderless world characterized by wider networks enterprises (national and international) managing global just-in-time manufacturing, by global sourcing and easy migration of resources (people and knowledge). Supply chain and industry actors operate everyday in a continuous evolving scenario in which they are asked to deal with contrasting objectives: processes robustness, risks and vulnerabilities reductions (including the most actual financial risks) and resilience against just in time and costs efficiency. Moreover the supply chain and industry context is considerably complicated by the continuous need to reach higher competitiveness levels: in the global market, production and supply chain managers take tactical, strategic and operative decisions without possibility to predict completely the effects and the consequences of their decisions.

Such a context requires to analyze and resolve problems without any restrictive assumptions tackling the problem from a global point of view. To this end Modeling & Simulation (M&S) based approaches have to be regarded as the best solutions for choosing correctly, understanding why, exploring possibilities, and diagnosing problems.

The main goal of researchers and practitioners is to support production and supply chain managers in theirs activities by developing new methodologies, approaches and decision tools based on M&S capable of considering all the factors interacting and dynamically evolving along the lifecycle of the real-world systems being considered.

This special issue aims at providing the opportunity for authors to submit original and unpublished contributions on new methodologies, applications, approaches and tools based on M&S for Supply Chain and Industry management and design.

Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be submitted for publication elsewhere. Each submitted manuscript must include title, names, authors’ affiliations, postal and e-mail addresses, an extended paper, and a list of keywords. For multiple author submission, please identify the corresponding author.
