\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAn innovative strategy created to tackle the difficulties of the digital and green transition in industrial sectors is the Information Modelling Framework (IMF): Chapter 16 in \n 2026 roadmap on artificial intelligence and machine learning for smart manufacturing – IOPscience\n <\/a>\n
\nIn order to achieve sustainability and resilience targets and accommodate digital transformation and new business models, IMF seeks to revolutionize the planning, building, and operation of physical industrial assets. Effective use of AI and Digital Twin technologies in industrial applications is made possible by the IMF approach, which offers engineers easily navigable information modelling tools. IMF’s key features include encapsulating model-based systems engineering principles into ontology-based classification systems, transforming system models into ontologies and knowledge graphs that capture entity meanings across design phases, and resolving information fragmentation issues in a variety of industries. The IMF methodology helps the industrial sector overcome the twin problems of the digital and green transition by facilitating dependable data integration, enhancing decision-making, and promoting the digitization of industrial processes. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProf. Dr. Dimitris Kyritsis (Kiritsis) is Professor Emeritus of ICT for Sustainable Manufacturing at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, Academic Director of the EPFL Extension School program on Sustainable Resilient Value Chains, Senior Advisor at the University of Oslo, Norway, and Senior Advisor at the Swiss Smart Factory, Biel\/Bienne, Switzerland. His research interests are Closed Loop Lifecycle Management, Industrial Ontologies, Knowledge Graphs and Cognitive Digital Twins. Dimitris is involved in EU projects in the areas of Digital Manufacturing, Zero Defect Manufacturing, Circular Manufacturing, etc. He has more than 250 publications. From 2013 to 2019 Dimitris was the Chair of IFIP WG5.7-Advances in Production Management Systems. He is co-founder of the Industrial Ontologies Foundry and of the Knowledge Graph Alliance. Dimitris was Member of the WEF Global Future Council on Advanced Manufacturing and Value Chains from 2019 to 2022. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMaurizio Faccio is Full Professor of Industrial Systems and Logistics at the School of Engineering, University of Padua (Italy).\nAfter earning a Master\u2019s degree in Management Engineering with full marks and honors (110\/110 cum laude) from the University of Padua, he obtained a Ph.D. in Industrial Systems at the same institution, with a dissertation titled “Assembly in the Modern Industrial Production”.\nHis teaching and research activities focus on the design and management of: Industrial plants,\tAssembly systems, Industrial logistics and warehouses, Industry 4.0 and 5.0-centered system.\n
\nHe has authored approximately 200 scientific publications, over 150 of which are indexed in Scopus, with an H-index of 36.
\nProf. Faccio is included in the World\u2019s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for the year 2024.
\nHe currently serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing (Springer, Impact Factor: 8.33), ranked 15th in SJR-Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering in 2022. He is also a member of several international editorial boards, including Assembly Automation (Emerald).
\nHis research has received recognition from international journals and conferences for its novelty and impact, and he has been awarded in the context of funded research projects.\nProf. Faccio is an active member of the International Technical Committee TC 5.1 \u2013 Manufacturing Plant Control (IFAC), and serves as Scientific Vice-Chair for Plant Operations Management.\nHe has participated in numerous national and international research programs, including the European Project MAIA (Models and Methods for an Active Ageing Workforce: an International Academy, H2020-MSCA-RISE).
\nHe leads or collaborates on a wide range of research projects with Italian and European industrial partners. In particular, he has coordinated nearly 100 research projects focused on innovation and technology transfer in the field of Industrial Systems and Logistics. These initiatives have involved organizations with high economic (business volume) and social (employment) impact. His current research focuses on applications of computational intelligence in manufacturing, renewable energy, automation, sustainability, and healthcare. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\nGraduated with honours in Management Engineering in 1995 from the University of Calabria, he earned his PhD from the University of Palermo in 2000 with a thesis on the prediction of flow-defects in manufacturing processes.\nCurrently he is a Full Professor of Manufacturing Technologies at the Department of Mechanical, Energy, and Management Engineering – University of Calabria, where he leads the Manufacturing research group. He served as Deputy Rector from 2013 to 2019.\nProfessor Filice has been Vice President of the Italian Association of Manufacturing Technologies (AITeM) and teaches Open Innovation in Industry to master\u2019s degree students in Management Engineering.\nHis primary research area focuses on innovative and sustainable production processes.\nHe is the co-author of over 200 indexed publications and coordinates different research projects in collaboration with companies in the manufacturing and service sectors.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNicholas Deliyanakis is a policy coordinator in the \u2018Prosperity\u2019 Directorate of the European Commission\u2019s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. He is currently coordinating the industrial aspects of the Horizon Europe Work Programmes, and has also worked on advanced manufacturing \u2013 the Made in Europe partnership. Previously, he was a Deputy Head in the strategy unit for industrial technologies; and has also worked on nanotechnology policy. Before joining the Commission, he worked on nuclear fusion at JET, the European nuclear fusion project; and as a physics tutor in Oxford University. He holds a first-class degree in physics from King\u2019s College London and a doctorate in engineering from Oxford University. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStefania Bruschi, PhD, is a professor of Manufacturing Technologies at the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padova, Italy, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the University. Her major research areas include sheet and bulk metal forming, machining and additive manufacturing of metal alloys, focusing on material behavior, process, and product performances. The research activities are carried out in the framework of EU and Italian-funded projects, and research contracts with Italian and European manufacturing companies. She is a fellow of CIRP (The International Academy for Production Engineering), and currently Chair of the CIRP Scientific Technical Committee \u201cForming\u201d. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the North American Manufacturing Research Institution, where now serves as Chair-elect of the Scientific Committee. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAlessandro Grosso is Country Manager Italy at BYD and was selected by Forbes Italia among the 100 top Italian managers and entrepreneurs of 2020.\n\nAfter earning a degree in Management Engineering from the University of Calabria and gaining international experience as a Consultant at Accenture, he joined the FCA group (now Stellantis), where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Project Management, Logistics, and Sales Planning.\n\nWithin four years, he became head of the Fleet & Business department, first for Italy and then for the entire EMEA region. The ISM 2026 Organization Committee has embraced the vision to make the conference the perfect environment for knowledge exchange and dissemination. In particular, dissemination activities (integrated with communication and exploitation) are essential for the impact and success of R&D projects. Funding bodies (e.g. the EU commission) usually request partners to organize midterm and final dissemination events in order to broadly disseminate the outputs of the project.<\/p>

With this in mind, ISM 2026 is organizing this special “R&D Projects Dissemination Event” dedicated to oral presentations of ongoing or final results of R&D projects in all the areas related to the conference topics.<\/p>
