Track Description Real systems and processes are always a mixture of elements of different nature, not only from different fields (mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc.) but also from the point of view of its operation: some evolve over time continuously, others are event-driven or being ruled by logic. These hybrid systems present particular challenges, related to its complexity and variable structure and to the type of decision variables, some of them changing continuously in time, while others are given by discrete decisions represented by integer values. This track aims at attracting novel contributions covering different aspects of Modelling, Simulation, Control and Optimization of hybrid systems, from fundamental problems to realistic applications, offering a platform to discuss and interchange novel ideas, trends and initiatives on this field. Innovative applications in the field of energy and management of large infrastructures are particularly welcome. Topics list: Topics include, but are not limited to the following areas: · Continuous process simulation · Simulation languages for variable structure processes · Simulation of uncertain processes · Modelling of hybrid systems · Hybrid control systems simulation · Batch Processes Simulation · Simulation and dynamic optimization · Scheduling of operations in hybrid systems · Numerical methods for computing sensitivities · Simulation languages and dynamic optimization · Optimization methods of hybrid processes · Optimal operation of hybrid systems · Hierarchical Simulation of hybrid systems · Distributed simulation of hybrid systems · Application to industrial systems · Applications to hybrid or electric cars · Applications to renewable energy systems · Applications to desalination plants · Applications to large scale infrastructures Nevertheless different topics concerning continuous and hybrid processes are welcome. Authors are kindly invited to include in their papers and presentations all the research works, case studies and application both theoretical and applied
Key Dates (extensions!) Submissions of Extended Abstracts: May 15, 2010 Notification of acceptance: June 15, 2010 Early Registration: July 15, 2010 Final Camera-Ready Submission: July 15, 2010
Authors' Guidelines (further information author’s instruction section) FIRST SUBMISSION Extended abstracts (minimum 2 pages), full draft papers or other proposals should be submitted for the review process through the submission section by May 15, 2010. The extended abstract or the full draft paper must contain title, authors, affiliations, addresses, main body and references. Each extended abstract or full draft paper will be reviewed by at least two members of the International Program Committee taking into consideration scientific quality, originality and relevance. Only original papers, written in English will be accepted. The extended abstract or the full draft paper should be prepared by following the final paper formatting. However any type of paper formatting can be accepted for the first submission.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 15, 2010.
CAMERA READY PAPER SUBMISSION The International Program Committee will accept two types of camera ready papers: extended paper (10 pages, 2 columns); regular paper (6 pages, 2 columns) both for regular and special sessions. The camera ready paper must adhere to the conference template. The .dot file contains the complete instructions for preparing a camera ready copy for the Proceedings. The final version of the paper must be a PDF file. Your camera ready paper (extended paper or regular paper) in PDF format must be submitted by using the submission section before the 15th of July 2010. The page limit for manuscripts is ten (10) pages (included in the author registration fee). Additional pages will require an additional fee. If your work must be cleared or approved before publication by your institution, company, or governmental agency, please be sure that process will be completed by the due date above or we will not be able to include it in the CD Conference Proceedings.
